Do you offer speech therapy coaching sessions for parents of toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children?
We offer speech therapy coaching sessions for parents and caregivers of children starting as early as 12 months up to first and second grade. These early years are critical for speech and language development as the spoken word develops naturally as a result of various types of stimulation. We are committed to helping you empower your child to reach their full communication potential.
How long are the speech therapy coaching sessions?
We offer 30 and 45-minute virtual coaching sessions providing focus and direction tailored to you and your child’s needs. Our comprehensive speech therapy coaching services cover every aspect of language development, ensuring that your child builds strong, effective communication skills.
What do your speech therapy coaching sessions offer parents, caregivers, and/or educators?
These sessions offer guidance, evidence-based strategies, and hands-on activities to help improve your child's language skills. By providing parents and caregivers with the resources, tools, and knowledge to actively support their child's language development, these coaching sessions can have a significant impact on your child's progress, overall well-being, and future success.
What speech and language domains are targeted during your coaching sessions?
Our coaching sessions target a variety of speech and language areas including receptive language (understanding words), expressive language (using words), articulation (production of sounds in words), phonology (pattern of sounds in language), and social interaction (interactions with others).
How do I know if my child needs support related to their communication skills?
Red flags for speech delays can include the absence of jargon, word approximations, first true words, word combinations, not speaking 50 to 300 words by age 2, and the inability to follow simple directions and attend. Other signs include difficulty producing specific sounds in words, problems understanding a child's speech, and when a child is not engaging in typical back-and-forth communication.
What are standard developmental language milestones?
Developmental Language Milestones are various language skills that can be acquired during the important expanding period of birth through five years of age (charts expand to higher age levels). Although each child acquires language at a different rate due to individual differences, parents need to have an understanding of the basic language milestones that their child will acquire. These skills allow parents to know what to expect next. How your child talks, plays, learns, and interacts with others determines important clues about your child’s language development. If you are unsure of your child’s language abilities, booking a consultation is a great starting point!
What are some examples of specific development language milestones?
By age 1, most children should be saying a few words; by age 2, they typically have an expressive vocabulary of 50 to 300 words. By age 3, children have an expressive vocabulary of between 900 and 1,000 words and often speak in short simple sentences.
