Studio 17: Helping Kids Break the “Behind Cycle” in Reading

by | Aug 19, 2025 | News & Articles

As kids across the country head back to school, experts are sounding the alarm on a growing crisis: nearly 70% of children globally aren’t reading at grade level.

On Studio 17, children’s speech-language pathologist Jo Ann Gramlich joined Kait to share how early intervention and everyday habits can make all the difference. Gramlich discussed her award-winning Talk, Play, and Read with Me series, designed to help families strengthen language and literacy skills from the very beginning.

From recognizing early warning signs to boosting confidence through simple daily activities, Gramlich encouraged parents and educators to take action early, because when kids fall behind in reading, they often stay behind.
